This is the view on my morning walk to work. It takes approximately 35 minutes to walk there from our new apartment around Lake Merritt, which used to be part of a large natural estuary along the Pacific Flyway. It has since been turned into this lake, but its levels remain affected by the tides. It is about 3.4 miles around, but probably only .8 of them comprise my walk to work. Please note I took this picture today on my walk to work this morning. That’s how clear it is here. How blue. How grateful.

Now that’s worth moving for. Do you see much in the way of birdlife?

Hi PWADJ!
I looked over the list of other links about Lake Merritt(which looks gorgeous!), and I saw it’s got a BIRD SANCTAUARY(?)…details, please?(this addresses Selma’s question, too)
Lucky you near that lake!
We have something they call a lake here, too, but it’s only a pond(sigh)
