About PWADJ

Welcome to my blog. This is Kitty. She’s the best. Below is my third person bio with links to some of my work online. But first, about the contest lists in the sidebar: I decided one day to keep track of them for myself. I had been entering contests every year, and I found there was so much junk to sift through: which were the good contests, which the wastes of money…etc. So, instead of reinventing the wheel each year, I just decided to start keeping a list of the ones I thought were solid. You will find 99% of the contests are full-length and chapbook manuscript contests as opposed to individual poem contests (about which I have opinions), the largest percentage of which are first manuscript contests. Enjoy, spread the word, share the wealth.

Melissa Fondakowski’s work has appeared in several magazines and journals including Many Mountains Moving, Santa Clara Review, modern words, Lodestar Quarterly, Blue Fifth Review, Convulvulus, Natural Bridge Literary Journal, So to Speak, Ruah, Parlor Games, AUGHT, Girlfriends magazine and in English and Macedonian in Blesok/Shine. A 22-page chapbook of her poetry entitled Impatiens was the winner of the 2001 Sow’s Ear Review Poetry Chapbook Competition and was published in 2002. Contrary to popular belief, Melissa does not enjoy talking about herself in third person. She lives in Oakland, California with another emerging poet and a really big cat.

Hi! I’m your new neighbor in The Small Is Beautiful neighborhood. Your blog’s name was very inviting. Now I’m here enjoying the few things I’ve read, hesitant to leave…
Your friendly attitude, your beautiful poems, even your cute cat… all persuade me to become a frequent visitor….so… how do you do, dear friend?

Your comment on the new Sheri Reed site (This Joy + Ride) took me to your site.
I work for Rejuvenation in Portland and dig your comments and appeciation for old buildings. Great photos too.
I am Kristin Beger’s husband, by the way…and I agree with you that her poetry is “lovely.”
